Today, the world celebrates a few famous individuals who have closely tied their lives to football:
Mircea LucescuMircea Lucescu (1945) — former Romanian football player, who played as a forward. He is most famous for his time at Dynamo in Bucharest. Until recently, he was the head coach of Kyiv’s "Dynamo". He has also managed Donetsk’s "Shakhtar" and other clubs. Multiple-time champion of Ukraine and holder of the Cup of Ukraine, as well as the Supercup of Ukraine. He is currently the head coach of the Romanian national team.
Graham Poll (1963) — former football referee, now retired from officiating. From 1993 to 2007, he officiated matches in the English Premier League. He is considered one of the best referees in football history. He is known for showing three yellow cards to Josip Šimunić in a World Cup match between Croatia and Australia, forgetting to send off the Croatian after the second warning.
