Former player of Kyiv “Dynamo” Alexander Prizetko shared why the leadership of the “white-blues” has not been active in the transfer market this summer.
Photo: fcdynamo.com— Kyivans have kept their squad during the off-season, but they have not been active in the transfer market. Will it be difficult to make an impression in Europe?
— It will be difficult to make an impression in Europe in any case, as the level of competition is very high there. Yes, the squad in “Dynamo” has stabilized, the guys have gelled, but if the quality of players is sufficient for domestic competitions, in Europe, when we face average teams, problems arise in all aspects of the game.
— Is there a way out of this situation?
— This is not only about the level of our championship, although there are objective reasons for this. Due to the war, foreign players of good quality are not coming to us. Furthermore, there is also a drain of our promising young performers.
One can mention the quality of our division about 10−13 years ago. After all, back then they paid a lot of money for foreigners, and these funds paid off, as Ukrainian teams performed well in the European arena. Now, however, the situation is nearly deadlocked. Foreigners would rather earn less but live in safety, which is why they do not want to come to Ukraine. Yes, we have foreigners, but they are not the level of players who would impact the growth of our championship.
— As long as the war does not end, should we not expect a breakthrough in our football?
— I simply don’t see where it could come from. Yes, many wanted domestic footballers to perform, and here they are performing... No one can give full security guarantees to foreign players.
