Former journalist Ihor Burbas spoke about the situation regarding the physical preparation of the UPL and first league referees.
Photo: UAF"The referee appointments for the 1st round of the UPL confirmed my insider information from the Football House - about the referees failing the FIFA fitness tests. None of the referees I mentioned will be officiating in the field until they retake the tests, meaning they will miss the starting rounds. All of them have been allowed to work as VAR referees.
To briefly remind, a third of the 28 main referees in the UPL are physically unprepared! What does this mean in practice? It means that these referees cannot keep up with the game episodes and therefore cannot make correct decisions. But even more striking is the statistic in the first league. Out of 19 referees at the training camp, nine did not pass the fitness test. That is almost half!," Burbas wrote on his Telegram channel.
