The famous manager and expert Vyacheslav Zakhovailo shared his opinion on the optimal format of the Ukrainian championship in the current realities.
Vyacheslav Zakhovailo“I am eagerly waiting for the match ‘Shakhtar’—‘Kudrivka’. This is, of course, sarcasm on my part. But all my reasoning is logical.
The Ukrainian Championship has turned into a collective farm competition. I honestly do not understand why, in this difficult time, we need to have 16 clubs in the UPL.
It makes sense to have 10 teams. Conduct the championship in a two-stage system. Two rounds with 10 teams. The second stage: the top five compete for the championship in two rounds, while the bottom five fight for survival. In total, we would have 26 matches. Four guaranteed matches between the contenders for the Champions League. I think it would be reasonable.
By the way, UEFA approves of a 10-club championship. I know that representatives from a championship with fewer clubs would automatically not be accepted by UEFA into European tournaments.
Wishing everyone well. Glory to Ukraine!” — Zakhovailo wrote on his Facebook page.
