Today’s date brought the world several famous individuals who closely connected their lives with football:
Oleg LuzhnyOleg Luzhny (1968) — a legendary Ukrainian defender. He played for Lutsk’s "Torpedo", Lviv’s SKA Carpathians, Kyiv’s Dynamo, London’s "Arsenal", "Wolverhampton", and the Latvian "Ventspils". Champion and holder of the USSR Cup. Seven-time champion and four-time holder of the Ukraine Cup. Champion and double holder of the FA Cup. He played 52 matches for the Ukrainian national team and did not score any goals. He was part of Oleksandr Khatskevych’s coaching staff at "Dynamo". He is currently the chairman of the Professional Football Committee of UAF.
Wayne Bridge (1980) — a former English left-back. Best known for his time at "Chelsea" and "Manchester City". Champion and holder of the FA Cup. He once refused to play for the England national team due to a dispute with John Terry (Wayne’s wife had an affair with John — ed.). In total, Bridge played 36 matches for the "Three Lions" and scored 1 goal.
Salvador Cabañas (1980) — a former Paraguayan forward for "General Caballero". Best footballer in South America in 2007. In 2010 Cabañas was shot in the head in a bar in Mexico City. A year later, Salvador began training and ultimately managed to return to professional football. He played 44 matches for the Paraguayan national team and scored 10 goals.
