Former head coach and president of Poltava’s “Vorskla” Viktor Pozechevsky shared his thoughts on the first match of Alexander Shovkovsky’s team against the Cypriot “Paphos” in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
Viktor Pozechevsky— I think the opponents will draw. For some reason, I have this feeling. The “Paphos” squad consists mostly of foreign players, with few Cypriots. That’s why this team is pretty good. Thus, Kyiv’s “Dynamo” will find it difficult competing against “Paphos”.
Unlike events from many years ago, a larger proportion of legionnaires play in every club in Cyprus. There are enough Brazilians and representatives from other countries. Therefore, saying something specific about Cypriot football is now difficult. After all, everything, I repeat, is related to foreign players. I don’t think the Cypriot championship is at a high level. It is below our championship. There are two or three leading clubs that can afford to buy expensive legionnaires, occupying positions that allow them to play in the Champions League and the Europa League,” Pozechevsky said to “UA-Football”.
