The midfielder of Kyiv’s Dynamo, Andriy Yarmolenko commented on the outcome of the match against Paphos in the Champions League qualifying round on the broadcaster’s air.
Andriy Yarmolenko— It’s hard to talk immediately after the game. Once we lost, it means it was likely fair. But nothing is decided yet. There is still a second game. We will prepare and will have another 90 minutes to rectify the situation.
— Did Dynamo expect such aggression from the Cypriots?
— No, we were prepared; we knew very well how Paphos play. The team defends disciplinedly. We understood that we wouldn’t have many chances, and we needed to wait for our opportunities — we had some in the first half, and we needed to take advantage of them. It would have probably been a completely different game then.
— Was there anything surprising in the opponent’s game?
— Nothing surprised us. We analyzed Paphos and knew exactly how they play.
— What did Shovkovskyi say during the break?
— Of course, we always talk in the dressing room, but what we discuss will remain inside the team.
— Does Dynamo have chances in the return match?
— There are always chances. Nothing terrible happened; this is just the first half.
— It’s very hot in Cyprus...
— And what options do we have? (Smiling.) Even if it’s 50 degrees, we have to go out on the field and rectify the situation.
— And how do you find the conditions in Lublin? Aren’t there too few fans?
— There aren’t many fans because we’re not playing in Kyiv, you know why. And we must thank those who came and supported us. The field? It’s at a good level. Everything is fine, except for our game.
