Unexpectedly, the first dangerous moment in the match was created by the hosts already in the 4th minute, quickly delivering the ball into the penalty area of "Dynamo". However, the defenders of the "white-blue" managed to play decisively and cleared the ball far from their goal.
Almost immediately the Dynamo players responded to this attack with a scoring opportunity. And what an opportunity it was! Herrero, going one-on-one with the "Rukh" goalkeeper after an excellent pass from Buyalsky, shot right at the goalkeeper! Then the ball bounced back to the guest striker, and after his cross to the far post, Voloshin failed to connect with that pass.
The reigning champions of Ukraine continued to dictate their terms to the opponent and, closer to the middle of the first half, managed to open the scoring: after a corner kick, chaos reigned in the "Rukh" penalty area for a few seconds, which Mikhavko took advantage of. The Dynamo defender managed to shoot from the line with a touch — 0:1!
Next, one of the key episodes of the match occurred: the same Mikhavko, wanting to kick the ball away from the opponent in a slide tackle, committed a foul in his own penalty area. Following a VAR review, the chief referee Romanov went to watch the video replay of this moment. However, the refereeing team noticed another episode, which happened a couple of seconds before the foul - a rule violation by a "Rukh" player on Voloshin. That is why Romanov pointed to the penalty spot against the Lviv club.
At the end of the first half, Herrero again failed to convert a one-on-one with the "Rukh" goalkeeper, but this time the "Dynamo" striker was in an offside position.
Let’s remind that "Dynamo" will play their next match in the 3rd round of the Champions League qualifying. On Tuesday, August 5, Shovkovsky’s team will meet "Paphos" in Lublin. The match starts at 21:00 Kyiv time.
