The central defender of Kyiv’s Dynamo, Taras Mihavko, shared his impressions from the away match against Lviv’s Rukh (5:1) in the 2nd round of the Ukrainian championship, in which he became the author of one of his team’s goals.
Taras Mihavko— After a challenging match in the Champions League, you started again. How easy was it for you to play in Lviv?
— I can’t say it was easy, but each of us is ready to go on the field. The coaching staff told me that I’m prepared and playing, so I couldn’t say that I was lacking strength — I’m always ready. Of course, the journey can tire you out and take away some energy. But, I repeat, playing for Dynamo, I would play every two days. So it’s nothing serious, we recover and get ready for a very important match.
— When Oleksandr Shovkovskyi said that other guys are resting, and you are playing, were you surprised?
— Not really to the point of being surprised. We don’t have anything where he says who rests two or three days before the game. Just when he said on the game day who is in the lineup, that’s his decision and we all support him. So for me, this is not a problem.
— You continued your scoring streak — you scored first in the European Cup, now you scored in the Ukrainian championship. Please tell us, is this something new for you? Are you now a defender who scores, or have you just worked a lot in training?
— Of course, I’m happy because I think you know that last season I was a bit unlucky in football. And this season, thank God, everything is going successfully so far. And I repeat, I mentioned this in other interviews, that for me it doesn’t matter if I score or someone else does — the main thing is for the team to win.
— In that moment when you scored today, you were being guarded by a tall striker from Rukh, but you managed to get away from him. How do you remember that moment?
— In training, we work and play until the end, wherever I may be. There was an unpleasant bounce, and I just didn’t switch off, played to the end, and managed to score.
