Defender of Kyiv’s Dynamo Alexander Karavaev commented on his team’s victory over Lviv’s Rukh (5:1) in yesterday’s match of the second round of the Ukrainian championship on the YouTube channel FootballHub.
Alexander Karavaev. Photo — A. Popov— Was this victory as easy as the final score on the scoreboard suggests?
— My view is that it was very hard to play. The pitch was sticky, soft, and our legs quickly got tired. It was noticeable that it was hard for both us and Rukh. But once we scored the first goal, it became a bit easier.
During the halftime break, the coaching staff told us that if we speeded up our decision-making and movement, we would score again. And that’s exactly what happened. We scored in the first minutes of the second half, and that certainly hit the opponent hard. After that, we had moments after moments and goals.
— In the context of the return match against Paphos in the Champions League qualification, is this victory important psychologically?
— Of course, it’s a winning path. When you win, you approach the next match with a different mindset. So we’re heading to Cyprus for a victory.
