Journalist and commentator Viktor Vatsko commented on the performance of Shakhtar midfielder Heorhii Sudakov.
Viktor Vatsko"I definitely wouldn’t say that Sudakov has lost motivation. I think he still dreams of moving to a top European league, and the loss of motivation, at least at the moment, is out of the question. Because the transfer window in Europe is in full swing, and the European competitions are, among other things, a showcase for Sudakov.
What catches my eye? Currently, Shakhtar has become more team-oriented, accordingly, Sudakov also has to align his play more with the team’s interests. Last season, I had the impression on more than one occasion that Zhora wanted to find bright, unconventional moves on the football field, to make decisions that emphasized his individual quality more than benefiting the team play, as the situation required.
Well, again, this is just my observation and my opinion. It seemed to me that Shakhtar wants to turn Sudakov into what it successfully did with Mudryk. Shakhtar wants to highlight the player, center the game around this player, and showcase him ahead of a possible sale. I call this pre-sale preparation.
Now, at Turan, at least at this stage, Sudakov performs different functions than those that Pushych had. He doesn’t drop back to the defenders, doesn’t initiate attacks, doesn’t find himself in situations where he has a lot of time with the ball. Now at Turan, Sudakov is more focused on attack. He positions himself high up the pitch. His functions are increasingly looking like those of a "number ten," and at times Sudakov shows he can be quite effective executing these functions.
We all, including Sudakov, need to understand that at a top European club he will not have the same preferences on the pitch that he had before at Shakhtar, at Shakhtar with Pushych. The ability to adapt to new: to new requirements, to new functions on the pitch will be key to his career development," Vatsko stated in his author program.
