The several-month saga surrounding the transfer of former defender of Kyiv "Dynamo" and English "Bournemouth" Illia Zabarniy to the squad of the 2024/2025 Champions League winner — French PSG, has come to an end, leaving all Ukrainian fans breathless.
On Monday, August 11, Illia arrived in Paris, successfully passed the medical examination, and signed a contract for five years, and the next day PSG officially announced Zabarniy’s transfer.
The president of "Dynamo," Ihor Surkis, congratulated the national team’s defender on the new stage of his career:
Illia Zabarniy
Dear Illia!
Allow me, on behalf of FC "Dynamo" (Kyiv), the entire great and friendly Dynamo family, and from myself personally, to sincerely congratulate you on your transfer to one of the best clubs in the world — French "Paris Saint-Germain".
This is a great achievement that is not within reach of every European football player, let alone Ukrainian performers. It is particularly pleasing that a Dynamo graduate is now part of the Champions League winner’s roster.
This has been made possible primarily thanks to your hard work, dedication, and high level of professionalism in dealing with every aspect of football, every action in the training process, during preparations, and directly on the field. In due time, you represented yourself well in the first team of "Dynamo", became a national team player, and distinguished yourself in one of the strongest leagues — the English Premier League. The move to PSG signifies that your talent is developing and your game is improving.
I am proud of you, sincerely wishing you success in your new club, reliable play, great victories, and significant trophies. I am confident you will make a great contribution to the achievements and successes of PSG, may everything go well for you, and injuries stay away.
Along with all Ukrainian fans, I will continue to follow your game, support you, and passionately cheer. Good luck!
