Ukrainian coach Petr Kushlyk shared his thoughts on the defeat of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” by Cypriot “Pafos” (0:2) in yesterday’s return match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League.
Petr Kushlyk“It’s very unfortunate that after the first game against ‘Pafos’ in Lublin (0:1, — ed. note), ‘Dynamo’ did not draw any conclusions from the defeat, and apparently, Alexander Shovkovskiy and his staff failed to get through to the players. As a result, in the match at the home ground of the Cypriot team, we all witnessed the Dynamo players being beaten.
“Pafos” surpassed “Dynamo” in team play, in the desire and ambition to achieve results. Unfortunately, the Kyiv team looked helpless. There were many mistakes, uncoordinated actions, blatant lapses in defense, and lethargy from some players. After the gross mistake at the very beginning of the game by Neshcheret, who ran out of the goal and went ‘to get a drink’, it became clear what was going to happen.
“Pafos” was able to play according to the score, and when they scored the second goal, the outcome of the two-legged confrontation was no longer in doubt. It’s very, very disappointing that at a time when the warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are defending the country from a furious enemy, giving our teams the opportunity to represent the country in European competitions, the Dynamo players are openly fooling around on the island of Cyprus,” said Kushlyk.
