Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis explained why he decided to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia— I had to sell Kvaratskhelia because his agent threatened to refer to a clause that allows the player to unilaterally terminate the contract with the club upon payment of compensation. After the first season, we realized that we needed to work on Khvicha’s contract since half of the top clubs in Europe would offer him “mountains of gold.” But that turned out to be insufficient.
His agent Mamuka Dzhugeli had other plans—for himself and for the player. He wanted to get a large commission from another club and a two-digit salary for Khvicha, — said Aurelio De Laurentiis.
It is worth reminding that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia moved from Napoli to PSG in the winter of 2025. The Parisians paid about 70 million euros for his transfer.
