Famous Ukrainian commentator Igor Tsyganik commented on Dynamo’s defeat in the first match of the 4th qualifying round of the Europa League against Maccabi.
Igor Tsyganik— The match against Maccabi showed: Dynamo, in its current state, is not ready even for the level of the Conference League. I am ashamed to see how we lose to Maccabi without a chance. 21 shots on Dynamo’s goal! Red cards, defensive blunders, gaps in defense — and no conclusions. This is already a matter of discipline and physical readiness. When a team fails to cover zones, when a defender, instead of running, jumps into a desperate tackle out of powerlessness — it’s not an accident, it’s the result of poor preparation.
The team is not ready for the season. We thought about the Champions League, but now we are glad about the Conference League. But even there, in such a state, the chances are slim. Dynamo looks like everyone is waiting for a miracle, but doing nothing.
The problem is not only with the players or the coach. It is a result of systemic flaws. Dynamo has no discipline and physical readiness. Two goals conceded from the penalty area — something that was previously unthinkable is now becoming the norm. Once the team fought until the end, now it seems to surrender without a fight.
No less alarming is that players do not feel responsible towards the fans. It feels like everyone is waiting for a miracle, but no one is ready to work for it. This is no longer a question of tactics or accidents — it is a lack of character.
Dynamo lives under the illusion of its own greatness. The Ukrainian championship does not provide the necessary level of competition, and the club system is bogged down in its own problems. Without new people, new strategies, and daily work, the team will continue to fall. Kyiv Dynamo is a brand known all over the world, a club with a great history and traditions. But today it is a team without a face, without leaders, and without a future,” said Tsyganik on his Youtube channel.
