During a meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino dedicated to the upcoming 2026 World Cup, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino"Putin would very much like to be there (at the World Cup 2026, — ed. note). And I think he will come. But it all depends on what happens in the near future. So he may come or not come — depending on events. A lot will happen in the next two weeks," Trump said.
Recall that the final part of the 2026 World Cup will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The qualifying tournament for the World Cup is currently ongoing. The Russian national team is not participating in it as it has been suspended from all international competitions since 2022.
