German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and will have consequences if it happens again, although he acknowledges Rüdiger as a key player for the team. The player himself noted that he is aware of his mistake and is ready to return to playing for the national team.
Rüdiger is returning to the national team and preparing for World Cup qualifying matches against Slovakia and Northern Ireland next week, having missed the last games of the Nations League in June.
