The former defender of the Ukrainian national team Artem Fedetsky spoke about his thoughts on the prospects in the Spanish “Girona” of the former forward of Kyiv “Dynamo” Vladislav Vanat.
Artem Fedetsky— Vanat chose “Girona” as his next club. Will Vladislav be able to repeat Artem Dovbik’s path and have the same successful debut season?
— No, Vladislav is not Dovbik. They are different players, and this “Girona” and Dovbik’s “Girona” are two different teams. Those footballers have already moved to different clubs, to “Manchester City”, so Vanat won’t be able to score as many goals as Dovbik. Of course, I wish him only the best, but I think he will score about 10 goals.
Only 3 matches have passed, they are currently in last place, but a team like “Girona” is capable of changing the situation. Yesterday was the last day of the transfer window, and probably more footballers came there to strengthen the team.
— Do you think this transfer window is just a coincidence, or will Ukrainian clubs now more often let their players go to Europe rather than hold on to them, as was sometimes the case before?
— I wouldn’t say that someone was held back before. There were simply objective reasons why footballers didn’t leave their clubs. Sometimes the initial sum scared off potential buyers.
I believe that the fact that Ukrainian footballers — both Sudakov and Vanat — moved to Europe is a very good sign. It means that Ukrainian football is being followed. They are watched in European cups, and possibly scouts are even watching the UPL, so I hope that there will be many Ukrainian footballers who will move to top European leagues.
