Liverpool did not include winger Federico Chiesa in the team’s roster for the group stage of the Champions League.
Federico Chiesa, Getty ImagesChiesa had a promising start to the new season, scoring a winning goal for Liverpool against Bournemouth (4:2) in the first round of the English championship. However, the competition at Liverpool is currently so high that the 27-year-old Italian did not make it into the 22 players registered by the Reds for the Champions League.
As noted by The Independent, Liverpool’s head coach Arne Slot prioritized 17-year-old Rio Ngumo instead of Chiesa, who was included in the main squad because he is not considered a product of the academy.
