Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin shared his impressions after the match of the 2nd round of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Azerbaijan.

Maybe today we lacked aggression from the first minutes. Only when the score became 1:1 at the end of the match did we start attacking, crossing, and shots appeared. Perhaps if this had happened from the first minutes, we would have had a different result. Plus, we need to defend better: if we hadn’t conceded, we would have won.
Everyone needs to reflect individually and come to the national team with a different mindset. If we want to play in the World Cup, there are no excuses. We need to go out, fight, and win. If we don’t win the next game, we can forget about the World Cup," — said Trubin.
