Former midfielder of Kyiv’s Dynamo Ivan Yaremchuk shared his impressions of the World Cup 2026 qualifying match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Ukraine (1:1).

It seemed that they went out not to play, but just to fulfill their duty. Poor quality of the field? It’s the same for both teams.
Could they have played differently with Mykolenko, Tsygankov and Yaremchuk? Maybe. But the national team should always have substitutions, rotation options, a wide choice of players.
I don’t know what Rebrov is counting on, but with such a game against Iceland, there’s nothing to catch. I watched the Iceland vs France match: there are aggressive players who run around the field for 90 minutes and immediately engage in selection. It will be very difficult, and we need only a victory,” Yaremchuk said.
