Daniel Kindberg, who was the president of the football club "Östersund" from 2010 to 2018, arrived in Ukraine in May of this year, where he joined our Armed Forces in the war against Russia, reports Expressen.se.

Interestingly, in 2022, the former president of "Östersund" was convicted of corruption offenses in Sweden: serious bribery, aiding in accounting fraud, and facilitating tax evasion. The court sentenced the official to 2.5 years in prison, prohibited him from conducting business for 3 years, and ordered him to repay about 5.55 million Swedish kronor to the state. However, Daniel himself denies the allegations that he went to Ukraine to avoid punishment.
— I am already quite an old man. In my opinion, this battle needs to be resolved here and now. If we do not win, then the bills will have to be settled by our children and grandchildren. I am not ready for that. I don’t think anyone spends six months in a country where there is war for this reason (to avoid punishment — ed.). They think that I will hide here, stay at war, participate in the court and will not be able to return home if I am convicted? — the publication quotes Kindberg’s words.
