The famous Ukrainian coach Yurii Vernydub responded to the rumors surrounding him. The media links the 59-year-old specialist with Lviv’s "Karpaty" and the Moldova national team.
Yurii Vernydub— Yurii Mykolaiovych, is it true that the Football Federation of Moldova offered you to lead their national team?
— No. That is not true. Just like the lies they write about the Ukraine national team and Lviv’s "Karpaty". But I have spoken with Matkivskyi three times! (Volodymyr Matkivskyi, president of "Karpaty", — ed.).
— Seriously?
— I’m joking. (Laughs). I haven’t just not met him; I haven’t even seen this person in person. There have been no meetings, and there couldn’t have been. How can I talk to Matkivskyi when the team has a head coach (Vladyslav Lupashko, — ed.)? I would never do something like that! They write all sorts of lies, why doesn’t everyone love me [journalists]? I’m just sitting here quietly, not bothering anyone...
I don’t know why your colleagues write all this. Probably just to write.
— Would you be interested in working with the Moldova national team if an offer comes in the future? You have only coached clubs so far.
— There’s no specificity, so there’s nothing to talk about yet. If I were indeed offered to lead the Moldova national team, I would honestly tell you, believe me.
— Are you already missing coaching work or enjoying being temporarily unemployed?
— If something really interesting comes up, we could talk, but for now...
