Journalist and commentator Viktor Vatsko commented on calls for Alexander Shovkovskiy to resign from 'Dynamo'.
Viktor Vatsko— To be honest, I don’t see any terrible catastrophe here. 'Dynamo' did not defeat 'Oleksandriya' and 'Obolon', but these are definitely not the matches that determine the fate of the championship title. I am convinced that both 'Dynamo' and 'Shakhtar' will lose points more than once this season. Therefore, I do not share the opinion that Shovkovskiy needs to leave the team right now, or that 'Dynamo' must immediately change its coach. Moreover, based on the game, Kyiv outplayed both 'Obolon' and 'Oleksandriya'. I see two reasons for the loss of points.
Firstly, the team did not capitalize on its chances. Against 'Oleksandriya' — 22 shots, of which only six were on target. Guerrero should have scored in front of the empty net but did not get his foot in, there were opportunities for Voloshyn and Shola. No matter how you look at it, chances need to be taken.
Secondly, I do not like the players' attitude. They scored a penalty — and immediately became more inert. They took the lead — and decided that the victory was in their pocket. Last season, such a game often worked for results, but now the opponents punish. And here’s the question: is this the tactic from Shovkovskiy or a problem with the players themselves? After all, they must remember that they play for the fans, that they are 'Dynamo' (Kyiv), a giant of Ukrainian football, and their salaries are accordingly.
I do not understand why top players, having gained the advantage, do not try to develop it, but stop instead of making the score 3:1 or 4:1 against a decidedly weaker opponent. This is unacceptable. It is good that even in the UPL they have begun to punish such an attitude with results. And if this comes from the coach — that’s a question for Shovkovskiy. If it comes from the players — then 'Dynamo' needs fresh blood. It is necessary to change those who have become stagnant and make it clear: if you do not want to play — others will. It’s very simple, you just have to make the decision,” Vatsko said on his YouTube channel.
