The chief referee expert of UAF, Nicola Rizzoli, commented on two episodes of the 6th round match of the Ukrainian championship between Kyiv “Dynamo” and “Alexandria” (2:2) on the UAF YouTube channel.
Nicola RizzoliThe first case concerns the awarding of a penalty against “Alexandria” in the 61st minute of the match for a foul on “Dynamo” midfielder Oleksandr Pykhalonok, and in the second case — a yellow card for another Kyiv midfielder, Nazariy Voloshyn, in the 82nd minute for simulation in the penalty area of the “city” team.
Penalty against “Alexandria”
— The defender of “Alexandria” wearing number 50 clearly made contact with the opponent’s leg while attempting to play the ball, striking the right leg of the “Dynamo” player.
The video clearly shows how the defender hits the white boot of the attacker. It is also clear that the defender does not touch the ball. This is an obvious penalty. For these reasons, the video assistant referee conducted a silent check.
Yellow card for Voloshyn for simulation of a penalty
— The “Dynamo” attacker wearing number 9 performs a slight jump during a struggle with “Alexandria” defender number 26, simulating a foul. The dynamics of the situation are very clear.
The defender does not violate the rules and even avoids the struggle for the ball, while the attacker tries to extend his right leg, which, however, does not touch the opponent. The position of the referee is perfect, allowing him to clearly see the entire dynamic. Therefore, he rightly stops the game and issues a warning to the “Dynamo” player for simulation.
For these reasons, the video assistant referee conducted a silent check.
