The head coach of Kyiv «Dynamo» Oleksandr Shovkovskyi commented on the broadcaster’s coverage of the draw with «Karpaty» (3:3) in the match of the 7th round of the Ukrainian championship.
Oleksandr Shovkovskyi— Oleksandr Volodymyrovych, today your team showed character, resulting in a score of 3:3. But it’s obvious that you are not satisfied with this result. Where do you think the team did not cope?
— Scoring three goals is good, but at the same time conceding three... I don’t think any team would be satisfied with such a result. Especially defensively, we needed to perform much better. The second and third goals were mistakes, and we could have been more confident at the first one and prevented the conceded goal.
— In the first half, the team conceded quite sharply. You actively expressed complaints to the fourth referee. What exactly did you want to convey?
— In my opinion, Romanov made a mistake. There should have been a foul called on Pikhaliuk, but that didn’t happen. This affected the further development of the episode.
— Regarding the restructuring in the game. It was noticeable that the opponent often attacked through your right flank. How did you respond to this situation?
— Yes, Karavaev didn’t finish certain episodes, which the opponents took advantage of. They broke through our defense specifically there. Therefore, we decided to strengthen the game, make substitutions to solidify that flank. Positionally, we needed to play more organized to assist the defense.
— In the second half, you changed the tactical setup. What was crucial in these decisions?
— We had to remain more focused and act united through strength. It was important for the wing defenders to work more actively. This was especially true for the central zone, where the opponent gained an advantage. That’s why we made adjustments that allowed us to level the game.
