The Ukrainian youth national team (U-20) started the 2025 World Cup in Chile with a victory. In the opening match, the team led by Dmytro Mykhailenko defeated South Korea with a score of 2:1. After the game, midfielder Yaroslav Karaman, who was recognized as the best player of the match, shared his emotions with the UAF press service.
“We are very happy because this was our first official match, important for the team, and we won it. So the joy is double. The award for best player is more for boosting morale; the main thing is that we achieved victory. Today we really had a team: everyone gave their all, and everyone deserves recognition. In the second half, South Korea scored from a corner and started creating more chances. But we withstood the pressure and won. The refereeing, in my opinion, was objective,” said Karaman.
