13 clubs from Estonia, led by the top teams of the Meistriliiga — “Levadia” and “Paide,” have initiated the exclusion of Russia from UEFA membership, reports the Telegram channel “Bombardir,” citing Delfi.
It is reported that the clubs are preparing a collective statement to UEFA regarding the “solidarity payments” that Russians receive in millions from the organization, as well as concerning Russia’s membership in UEFA. The clubs have also addressed this demand to the Estonian Football Association, whose position on the ban of Russia remains ambiguous.
1. Stop solidarity payments to Russian clubs from UEFA;
2. Ensure the transfer of funds to Ukrainian clubs;
3. Initiate the procedure for the exclusion of the Russian Football Union (RFU) from UEFA.
One of those for whom this issue is fundamental is the president of “Levadia,” Viktor Levada:
“My position as a citizen of Estonia and as a person born in Ukraine is clear and has long been expressed. Russia is an aggressor and a terrorist state that has unleashed a war and kills people every day. It has no place in FIFA, UEFA, or any other organizations of civilized countries, including the UN! From the first day of Russia’s aggression, I have expressed my position, and it is unwavering! Everyone knows this, including the president of the Estonian Football Association!” said Levada.
