Head coach of Portuguese Benfica, Jose Mourinho, commented on his team’s defeat to London’s Chelsea (0:1) in yesterday’s match of the second round of the group stage of the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho"We had two days between the matches, and we did not train, only recovered. One of my strengths on the field, if I can say so, is my training sessions, but we had no time for that. Right now, there is a strong pressure on the players, and before this match, I simply told them that there are defeats... and there are defeats. Today’s can become a foundation for them, as we could have returned with a draw, which would have been positive for them.
The problem is not today’s defeat, but the defeat to Karabakh (in the previous round of the Champions League, 2:3 — ed.). Even after today, we should have had three points, and now we need to find them somewhere. I think we did enough today to take one point, but it didn’t work out. Our team is gaining confidence. We tried. It wasn’t enough, but that’s okay. Regardless, impressions are positive,” Mourinho is quoted by the official UEFA website.
