The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed decree No. 738/2025, by which the young goalkeeper and public activist Stepan Chubenko has been posthumously awarded the highest state title — Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star.
Stepan Chubenko“For civic courage, patriotism and steadfastness shown during the events related to the defense of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, heroic defense of the constitutional principles of democracy, and the rights and freedoms of a person, I decree:
To confer the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the 'Golden Star' on CHUBENKO Stepan Viktorovych — public activist (posthumously),” — reads the decree on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that Chubenko was a goalkeeper for the youth team 'Avangard'. In 2014, he was killed by Russian militants for his pro-Ukrainian stance.
