On Thursday, October 2, in the match of the first round of the main stage of the Conference League, Kyiv “Dynamo” lost to English “Crystal Palace” with a score of 0:2. The match took place in Lublin at the “Arena Lublin”. We present to you the post-match press conference of the head coach of the British team Oliver Glasner.
Oliver Glasner. Photo — A. Popov— Were you surprised by “Dynamo”'s chosen tactics and formation?
— To be honest, I wasn’t too surprised because I expected such tactics as well. We controlled the flow of the game for almost the entire match, so I believe that our victory is fully deserved.
At the same time, the game itself was quite difficult; we struggled for a long time to break through the dense defense of “Dynamo” and find some space for a moment. In the first 60 minutes, we played extremely intensively, striving for success in attack. And in the remaining half hour, we played more relaxed so as not to exhaust the players too much ahead of the upcoming matches.
— Which tournament is more important to you?
— For me, there is no tournament that is more of a priority. We treat each match separately, prepare for it, give it our all, and always want to win. Now we have a match in the Premier League ahead, and we want to win that one too. But I must admit that we understand the tactics and playing style of all teams in the English championship better, and we can predict many things. In European competitions, it’s more challenging. This was also the case with the match against “Dynamo.” We have to adapt to the opponent.
— Your team has now gone 19 matches without defeat. What does this mean for you?
— Of course, I am very happy about this, but that is already in the past, and I always look to the future.
