Guardiola: «I am happy when players go to their national teams, but I am even happier when they return healthy»

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is confident that the team’s midfielder Phil Foden will continue his appearances for the England national team.

The 25-year-old midfielder was not included in the list of 24 players called up by England national team coach Thomas Tuchel for the World Cup 2026 qualifying matches against Wales and Latvia.

«Thomas knows a thousand times better than I do what he needs for the national team. I can only say that Phil will return if he continues to play like he is playing now.

I am happy when players go to their national teams, but I am even happier when they return healthy,» Guardiola is quoted by The Independent.
