The head coach of Donetsk Shakhtar, Arda Turan, commented on his team’s crushing defeat against Cherkasy LNZ (1:4) in the 8th round of the Ukrainian championship.

To be honest, I think this is my worst day since I started working as a head coach. What I feel today is really devastation, and probably this is the first time I have felt such a thing in my coaching career.
I take full responsibility: when a team concedes four goals at home — it’s entirely my responsibility, which I will not shy away from.
As for the events on the football field, sometimes you just have to go out and fight like we did in childhood football on the streets. Today’s game was built primarily around one-on-one situations, and unfortunately, we could not respond adequately to all those episodes that occurred.
It is also important to emphasize what our reaction will be, whether it will be that of an ordinary team or of a champion team. What I can say with certainty is that after returning from the break for national team matches, we will have a lot of lessons to learn from today’s match.
I don’t think we are currently in some critical crisis situation; we are still at the top of the UPL standings despite this defeat, and we won our last match in the Conference League. Football is a game that is never perfect; there are always episodes like today’s match, when, unfortunately, we can’t achieve a positive result for ourselves,” Turan said.
