The Ukrainian Premier League has summed up the results of the 8th round of the championship, the matches of which took place last weekend.
Team of the 8th round of the UPLThe selection of the best players traditionally took place through a survey of representatives of Ukrainian sports publications. Each respondent named their top three candidates for the title of Coach of the Round, a top five for Player of the Round, and also created their version of the symbolic team of the round.
The best coach of the 8th round was recognized by a collective decision of a group of 38 experts, almost unanimously (34 first places in the surveys) as Vitaliy Ponomaryov, who, at the helm of LNZ, delivered a crushing away defeat to Shakhtar with a score of 4:1. The top three also included Mladen Bartulovic (Metalist 1925 drew away with Dynamo — 1:1) and Ivan Fedyk (Rukh defeated Kolos away — 2:0).
For the title of Best Player of the 8th round, a serious remote dispute unfolded between two legionnaires — from Kryvbas and LNZ. In the end, Venezuelan left winger Gleiker Mendoza scored 10 points more than Nigerian right winger Prosper Obah — 141:131. A reasonable distance behind them, but still in the top 5, were: Maxim Braghariu (Polissia), Mukharrem Yashari (LNZ), and Yegor Tverdokhlib (Kryvbas).
It should be noted that for the second time this season, there was not a single representative from Dynamo in the UPL team of the round.
Team of the 8th round: Palamarchuk (LNZ) — Kopyna (Rukh), Muravskyi (LNZ), Sarapii (Polissia), Kuzyk (LNZ) — Prosper (LNZ), Yashari (LNZ), Riabov (LNZ) — Lytvynenko (Metalist 1925), Mendoza (Kryvbas) — Assinor (LNZ).
