The head coach of the Romanian national team, Mircea Lucescu, commenting on the victory over Austria (1:0) in yesterday’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match, said a few words about the author of the winning goal, Hannover’s central defender Virgile Ghiță, and admitted that he wanted to strengthen Dynamo Kyiv with him when he was the coach of the «white and blues».
Virgile Ghiță«I was watching Ghiță, wanted to bring him to Dynamo Kyiv. He is currently playing in a strong league, playing for a club that has a chance to reach the Bundesliga,» said Lucescu at the post-match press conference.
It should be added that according to media reports, Dynamo was interested in Ghiță during the winter transfer window between 2023 and 2024, when he was playing for Polish club Cracovia. The transfer did not happen due to the high financial demands of the Krakow club, which wanted around 4 million euros for the Romanian center-back. In the end, Ghiță transferred to Hannover earlier this year for 1 million euros.
