The midfielder of the English «Brentford» and the Ukrainian national team, Yehor Yarmoliuk, commented on the qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup against Azerbaijan.
Yehor Yarmoliuk— Yehor, how do you feel, what are your emotions after the match?
— The main thing is that we got three points. This is the most important thing for us. The match was difficult and exhausting, but the result is positive.
— You missed the mini-camp in Poland and didn’t prepare with the team right away. How do you feel physically?
— I feel good. Of course, the game was not easy for me because I didn’t train for a few days, but I’m back in the lineup — all is well.
— Many of your teammates said that it was even harder against Azerbaijan than Iceland. Why do you think that is?
— Because they played more on defense. It was tough to break through and score the first goal.
— Was the goal conceded at the end of the first half due to a lack of concentration?
— We can’t say for sure, but it’s our mistake. We need to work on it.
— Two wins in two matches, but the team comes out after the final whistle without much emotion. Why is that?
— We, of course, rejoice but move forward and prepare for the next camp.
— What do you think went well today, and what didn’t?
— We managed to win. As for what didn’t... Nothing didn’t work out (smiles).
— The atmosphere in the stadium was great. How did the support from the stands feel?
— There were many Ukrainian fans, and this is very important for us. We played with the 12th player on the field.
