Former Dynamo goalkeeper Denys Boiko shared his thoughts on the current problems of the 'white and blues' using the example of the draw with Zorya.
Denys Boiko— I am concerned about the series of five draws. Dynamo is a club that always contends for the championship. And now, for five consecutive rounds, the team cannot win their match. Therefore, this worries me. I have always said that I am a fan and will always be a fan of Kyiv Dynamo. This club raised me. And again, I can absolutely adequately and substantively express my thoughts, but I will always remain a Dynamo fan.
What I see today, I don’t like. I believe that five consecutive draws indicate that the team is not making conclusions. The team consistently wins by one goal, and then something happens. For example, let’s take the match with Zorya: the team scored a goal, and while sitting in the stands, I see that they are bringing on a second defensive midfielder—at the moment when Dynamo controls the game.
Zorya didn’t have chances until then, except for one almost one-hundred-percent moment—after a defensive failure. And now, when Dynamo scores, instead of pressing the opponent, the team moves back, puts on a second defensive midfielder, and Zorya gets opportunities.
Who is to blame? The players? The coaching staff? It’s hard for me to say. But when a team draws for five consecutive matches, it means that someone is not making conclusions. Probably, the coaching staff is also not making conclusions. If the team draws for five consecutive matches, winning by one goal, eventually ending in a draw—it means something needs to change.
I am not a coach, I don’t have a coaching diploma—only a goalkeeping one. I can speak specifically about the goalkeeper position. But as a fan, I see: When Dynamo leads by a minimal score, they start defending more, sitting back. But it should be the opposite. Lead 1:0 and continue to attack. Score the second, score the third—and then even play without forwards. Not that after 1:0 the team stops playing football, said Denys on the air of the 'Football 360′ program.
