Renowned journalist Igor Lynnyk shared his thoughts on the latest results and performances of Kyiv’s Dynamo.
Igor Lynnyk«The fundamental and universal criterion of the effectiveness of sports activities — as recognized by the overwhelming majority of participants in the sports movement, including its commentators — is the notorious scoreboard.
The scoreboard is the most objective criterion for evaluating the achievements of individual athletes or teams.
From the observers' point of view, they may run, jump, swim, and even play 'this way' or 'not that way.' But if time and again this athlete or team shows a stable result on the scoreboard, and moreover maintains leading positions, it means only one thing: at this moment they are more or less successful.
Only they can objectively judge how successful they are, because only they know what goals they set for themselves at the start.
Their successes can only be refuted by their opponents — if and when they manage to push this athlete or team from the scoreboard.
No comments from observers, evaluating an athlete’s or team’s running, jumping, swimming, playing from the positions of 'this way' or 'not that way,' 'I like it' or 'I don’t like it,' can be objective.
Any such assessment from the outside is no more than a matter of taste. And that’s it.
Why am I saying this? Let me explain with a simple example.
I don’t like how Dynamo Kyiv plays (and not just today). I suppose I’m not the only one.
Moreover, I’m long convinced that as long as Dynamo shares first or second place with Shakhtar in the final standings of the Ukrainian championship, there’s little chance anyone at Dynamo will raise the alarm, let alone tear their white-and-blue clothing.
But if and when their opponents push Dynamo to other positions, say fourth, fifth, or sixth, then maybe something will change. Although this is not guaranteed either.
Only then will my dissatisfaction gain signs of objectivity. However, even in this case, it will hardly be justified.
After all, nothing and no one prevents a hypothetical me or someone else from creating an alternative project to Dynamo and clearly showing everyone what needs to be done so that not only on the scoreboard but also in terms of quality everything is exactly 'the way' it should be.
So my recommendation to everyone who’s nervous or uneasy: try to push Dynamo from the positions they currently hold. When there is no 'game,' and the 'coach is wrong,' and everything is a complete mess with Kravets and Blenyutse...,» wrote Lynnyk on his Facebook social media page.
