The third round of the 2025/2026 Champions League season became the highest-scoring round in the tournament’s history, UEFA’s press service reports.
Photo: REUTERSIt is reported that a total of 71 goals were scored in the main round matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a record-breaking performance for a single matchday since the 1992/1993 season.
Currently, after three rounds of the 2025/2026 season, the average number of goals per game stands at 3.4. Out of the 18 matches in the third round, six featured five or more goals. Notably, «Chelsea» and «Liverpool» each scored five goals, PSV and «Barcelona» scored six each, and the title holders «Paris Saint-Germain» scored seven goals against «Bayer» in Germany.
Despite the record number of goals scored, three games ended without any goals.
