Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder Oleksandr Aliyev commented on his former team’s defeat to Turkish Samsunspor (0:3) in yesterday’s match of the 2nd round of the general stage of the Conference League.

— Not only in European tournaments but also in Ukraine. Watching Dynamo’s game just ruins your evening.
— In your opinion, what are the main reasons for the team’s recent failures?
— You need to ask the current Dynamo players. They play football, if you can call it football. If they can’t do that, they are simply embarrassing the club.
— It seemed that most of Kyiv’s actions lacked mutual understanding. What are the trainings for then?
— I’m not at the base, so it’s hard for me to say what they are doing there. In such a time, when we are at war, people are dying, others are earning money playing football. But with such football, they not only do not delight the fans, they just destroy faith in the beloved team.
What claims can be made against the coaching staff? They do what they can. The players must achieve results on the field... I don’t know what the president would do with me or the team if we were so disgraceful. And now, apparently, it has become the norm.
— Maybe Dynamo is lacking the support of their fans now?
— Players are obliged to understand what jersey they wear and for which club they perform. At least show some character for those guys on the front line. Many of my acquaintances write to me from there, asking why this club is being destroyed. And I have nothing to answer. I would take the current Dynamo players to the front line and show them how they live there, how they show character and fight so that it’s more or less normal in the rear.
— Dynamo is criticized for such games and results, but there is still no progress.
— It means they do not hear criticism or do not want to hear it. And I am, I repeat, ashamed as a former Dynamo player for the current generation of this club’s players.
— Could the match with Samsunspor have gone differently if Karavaev had equalized in the middle of the first half?
— What are you talking about? Look how Koulibaly mocked Vivcharenko. The opponent, when they wanted, moved Dynamo’s defense. What can we talk about if our stars never managed to hit the Turkish goal?
— Is there a way out of the situation?
— There is always a way out. But I don’t understand why some scandals periodically arise in Dynamo, why Yarmolenko is not playing. Yes, Andriy is aged, but compared to his partners, he looks magnificent. His experience in this case would be very useful.
I look at these kids and think: what kind of Champions League can we talk about if in the worst European tournament in terms of rating, we lose in all aspects to a team hardly anyone knows about. This is mockery of the fans. And what is most offensive is that there is no visible prospect. Probably, it’s better not to get into the European competitions to avoid embarrassment there.
