The president of Kyiv’s Lokomotiv, Oleksandr Yegorov, stated that the coaching staff has set a goal to compete for the triumph in the Ukrainian Cup. The official wants to play against Kyiv’s Dynamo.
Oleksandr Yegorov— At the academy level, we played against Dynamo very often. Unfortunately, the first team didn’t. After all, we are in the second league, and they are in the UPL. But in the Ukrainian Cup, as I understand it, the team and the coaching staff have set goals to reach the semifinals and finals. So, perhaps we will soon play against Dynamo.
Historically, there have certainly been clashes between both clubs if you look at the period before independence. I’ll tell you more: the legendary «Death Match» was played by a team in which most players were from Dynamo, but five guys represented Lokomotiv. These facts are proven. A new book by a Ukrainian historian-researcher was recently released, and this information was shared with us. It was interesting to get the names of these players, — said Yegorov.
