Madrid’s Real is demanding compensation from UEFA after the Regional Court of Madrid rejected appeals filed by the Union of European Football Associations, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), and La Liga in a case related to the European Super League.

Real was one of 12 European clubs that supported the creation of the Super League in 2021—a project aimed at being an alternative to the Champions League. However, the tournament quickly lost support under pressure from fans and governments.
UEFA then suspended the formation of the tournament and threatened sanctions against the participating clubs. But in December 2023, the European Court ruled that the actions of UEFA and FIFA violated EU law by restricting competition in football.
The decision by the Madrid court was another blow to UEFA’s position in the prolonged legal dispute surrounding the Super League.
