An interesting exhibition of works by Ukrainian sculptor Serhiy Boldov on sports and football themes has opened at the Olympic Glory Museum of the Dnipropetrovsk region, located in the Olympic House.

As reported by mis.dp.ua portal, the first viewers were over 50 young athletes — trainees of sports schools and clubs of Dnipro, including SDYSShOR No. 6, Dnipro College of Sports, Regional Complex Youth Sports School for Olympic and Non-Olympic Sports, and the sports club «Judo-Dnipro».
In the fifth grade, Serhiy’s art school teacher noticed his talent for sculpture, but at that time he was more interested in football and judo. As he grew older, he managed to combine his passion for art with his love for sports, resulting in a unique collection of sculptures of prominent sports personalities.
Serhiy BoldovAmong the works is a miniature monument to the founder of modern judo Jigoro Kano titled «Hajime,» which the author gifted to the All Japan Judo Federation (AJJF), and the original is displayed in the Museum, where young judokas of Dnipro could see it.
«I create sculptures using photos and videos, so the more material available, the easier it is to convey a person’s character. The monument to Jigoro Kano required particularly meticulous work,» says Serhiy Boldov.
The exhibition also features sculptures of football legends — Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, and Hryhoriy Surkis. Young athletes were particularly impressed by the sculpture of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy alongside his wishes during the opening of the Olympic House.

Special attention is given to Cristiano Ronaldo. The sculptor created several compositions:
«The Best» — bust of the best scorer of the Portugal national team;
«The Best of the Best» — composition with a scarab beetle pushing a UEFA Champions League ball;
«The Best forever» — sculptural work dedicated to the six-time best scorer of the Champions League.
«The scarab beetle is a symbol of strength and wealth; I decided to combine its power with Ronaldo’s talent,» explains Serhiy.
A special place is occupied by the composition «Touch the future,» dedicated to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It depicts Paul the octopus predicting the winner of the match and the moment when he approaches the FIFA Cup, which partially transforms into gold.
The exhibition by Serhiy Boldov is a unique opportunity for the young athletes of Dnipro to familiarize themselves with the works of a talented sculptor from Kamianske and be inspired by examples of global sports legends.
