Shakhtar’s forward Luca Meirelles shared his impressions of the cup clash with Dynamo.
Luca Meirelles. Photo: shakhtar.com— This Ukrainian classic was tough for Shakhtar, two completely different halves. What went off plan?
— I think there’s nothing to say about that: we went into the second half confident that we couldn’t slow down the pace we set, but unfortunately, in the first half, we couldn’t translate our good play into goals. As soon as the second half started, we had a good start and scored, but then we fell out of the game. Very upset with the loss and elimination.
— Analyzing all possible moments, can it be said that Shakhtar deserved the victory more?
— Yes, undoubtedly. We played a great first half but, as I said, unfortunately couldn’t convert our good play into goals. We finished the first half with a score of 0—0, and that was our big mistake as a team. All I can say is, I’m very upset now. But football is fast, and in a few days, we will have another game against them, we will do everything possible to win.
— Regarding the next match between Shakhtar and Dynamo, what are your feelings? Will it be a new story, a new battle?
— I and the team will give 100, 200 percent of what we can, leave everything on the field to achieve the victory we deserve. We know we are a great and very hardworking team. So, we will make every effort to win and remain the leaders of the championship.
