The president of the Turkish Football Federation İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu stated on CNN Turk that one of the country’s referees placed 18,227 bets.

Additionally, according to the official, the investigation revealed that 42 Turkish football referees placed over a thousand bets collectively.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the Turkish Football Federation suspended 149 referees on charges of betting for a period of eight months to one year. Furthermore, an investigation by the Turkish Football Federation, based on data from state institutions, revealed that 371 out of 571 active referees in Turkey’s professional leagues had betting accounts, and 152 of them were actively gambling.
