Former FIFA referee Miroslav Stupar evaluated a game episode from yesterday’s 11th round match of the Ukrainian Championship between Donetsk Shakhtar and Kyiv Dynamo (3:1), where Kyiv team’s midfielder Shola Ogundana ended up on the ground in Shakhtar’s penalty area.
Miroslav Stupar“Shovkovsky’s dissatisfaction is understandable. In my opinion, Yefim Konoplya pushed Shola Ogundana and should have been penalized with a penalty.
This was an obvious foul and penalty, but it did not happen. Perhaps from the position referee Vitaliy Romanov occupied, Konoplya’s foul was not clearly visible.
But VAR referee Igor Paschal clearly saw this episode on the monitor and should have brought the defender’s actions to the referee’s attention. I don’t know why he didn’t do this.
Since the score was then 2:1 in favor of Shakhtar, Dynamo could have had a chance to score from the penalty and save themselves if the refereeing team had performed their duties more clearly,” said Stupar.
