Former head coach of Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih Yuriy Vernidub shared his opinion on Vitaliy Romanov’s refereeing in the central match of the 11th round of the Ukrainian championship between Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv (3:1).
Yuriy Vernidub«I’ll say this, whenever your team loses — I was the same as a coach, and I will always look for reasons in refereeing. But I don’t think the refereeing played a key role in this match. Moreover, when Dynamo plays with other teams and referee mistakes are in their favor — why do they not say anything then?
So no need to delve into this. There is a referee’s body for specific episodes, there is the CDC, let them watch and sort it out. But personally, I don’t believe the referee favored Shakhtar or was against Dynamo. That’s nonsense. I believe Romanov managed the match quite well — he allowed them to play, whistled less, and didn’t get into micro fouls at all. I didn’t see any conspiracy against Dynamo or Shakhtar there. Then we should recall how Yarmolenko grabbed Bondar by the neck, and for Konoplya’s simulation, a 100% card should have been given.
I do not understand when our Ukrainian footballers engage in various provocations. Surely, when they later watch, aren’t they ashamed of themselves for behaving this way? Do they believe victory must be achieved at any cost? That is not the price. One must always remain human, have some principles, not create something incomprehensible. That, I definitely do not like,» Vernidub said.
