Journalist Serhiy Tyshchenko commented on the choice of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, for the November World Cup 2026 qualifying matches against France and Iceland.
Serhiy Tyshchenko“I do not believe that Serhiy Rebrov does not call Andriy Lunin to the national team due to lack of game practice. Rather, Lunin himself does not want to join the national team and sit behind Anatolii Trubin.
Calling 32-year-old Yevhen Volynets to the national team as the third goalkeeper is more of a compliment to Hennadii Butkevych (president of 'Polissya', — ed. note). Players are called to the national team from 'Polissya' even without game practice.
I personally was waiting for Maksym Khlan’s call-up. The national team has problems with wingers. Khlan is only 22 years old. His team, 'Górnik' (Zabrze), is leading the Ekstraklasa with a margin. Khlan scored in the last game against 'Arka'. I agree with my colleague Peter Slionka that Maksym (a native of Zhytomyr) can become a star of the Polish championship,” wrote Tyshchenko in his Telegram channel.
