Former Ukrainian national team striker Ivan Hetzko shared his prediction for the Conference League match «Dynamo» — «Zrinski».
Ivan Hetzko (photo: athletic-club.od.ua)— Do you have any concerns about «Dynamo» after their recent results in European competitions?
— «Dynamo» looked quite decent in the match against «Kryvbas,» and at times — very good. However, when compared to «Shakhtar,» you can see that the team has its nuances, its problems — the same stumbling blocks they keep encountering. This is a bit alarming. But I think against a team like the Bosnian one, there should be no questions. And frankly, if «Dynamo» stumbles or draws there, it would be very unfortunate. There could be an underestimation of the opponent. Although the Bosnians are Slavs, they will fight for every ball. They have tall, athletic players. So, it won’t be easy.
— Could it be that now «Dynamo» will put all their efforts into catching «Shakhtar» in the championship and play more calmly in European competitions?
— No, I don’t think so. There’s the club’s name, there’s prestige — both for the country and for the team itself. «Dynamo» has a good bench. Yes, both «Shakhtar» and the team from Kyiv have personnel problems, but «Dynamo’s» squad allows them to play in the Conference League. And it shouldn’t be thought that everything is already decided in the championship. Many tours are still ahead, and the fight between «Shakhtar» and «Dynamo» will definitely continue.
— In such a match, should Yarmolenko again energize the team and lead it forward?
— We would very much like that. If there is no one else, then it is up to players like Yarmolenko to step up. But I would like the young «Dynamo» players to understand: they need to replace the experienced players who lead the team and take on this role.
— And what is your prediction for the «Dynamo» match?
— I think «Dynamo» should win 1:0 or 2:1. They must please both themselves and their fans.
