Today has gifted the world several famous people who have closely tied their lives to soccer:
Vladimir VeremeyevVladimir Veremeyev (1948) — a former soccer player who played as a midfielder and forward. He once defended the colors of Zvezda and Dynamo Kyiv. A six-time champion and three-time winner of the USSR Cup. Winner of the 1975 Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Played 26 matches and scored 2 goals for the USSR national team.
Vladimir Greber (1911−1965) — a former soccer player who played as a midfielder. Considered a master of penalty kicks. He once defended the colors of Dynamo Kyiv and Dynamo Dnipropetrovsk. One of the few players who played for Kyiv both before and after the war.
Joe Cole (1981) — a former English midfielder. A product of West Ham. Cole also played successfully for Chelsea in London. Joe spent one season at Lille in France on loan. Participated in games for the England national team during the World Cup in 2002, 2006, and 2010, as well as the 2004 European Championship.
Guus Hiddink (1946) — a Dutch coach. Known as a successful manager of several top European clubs and national teams. As a player, Guus won just one trophy, but during his ongoing coaching career, Hiddink led his teams to 14 club trophies and national teams of Korea and the Netherlands to prize-winning places in World Cups or European Championships. It’s worth noting that in Guus Hiddink’s hometown of Varsseveld, there was a museum named in honor of the coach «Guuseum».
